Vacation Bible School returned to Trinity during the first week of August as a mission team of thirty-five youth/adults from two churches in Illinois shared God's good word with youth of the Lower Ninth.
With the church still under construction, VBS was taught in the church’s backyard, utilizing the porch and tents. The four-day session kicked off with eight kids on Monday and by the end of the week, 21 youth were in attendance. Songs, skits, crafts, storytelling, and even a quiz show taught the kids lessons from four of Jesus’ parables.
The sno-cone machine brought welcome relief to the hot, humid August temps and on Thursday evening the team sponsored a community event that included games and refreshments. All 21 kids attended and brought their parents, siblings, and friends.
Newly appointed Deaconess, Janine Bolling, worked with the team during the week and has conducted follow-up visits with the kids that attended VBS.
The mission team really enjoyed their week in NOLA and talk has already begun about how great it would be to sponsor VBS next summer in the newly completed Trinity Lutheran Church!
