Prior to Katrina, Trinity Lutheran Church ~ Claiborne was a vibrant church in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. Founded in 1916, the church moved to the Claiborne location in 1961. In 2005, Trinity had approximately 300 members and was an integral part of the community. Located mere blocks from the levees that failed, Trinity filled with more than 12 feet of water. Members of the congregation were displaced throughout the country and the decision was made to disband. In early 2010, the property was deeded by the Southern District-LCMS to RAI Ministries.
